Vodafone unveils two low end smartphones for mass market

The Smart III and Smart Mini will go on sale across Vodafone’s markets this month (June)

Vodafone has launched two low-end smartphones aimed at accelerating the adoption of mobile internet within the mass market.

The Smart III and Smart Mini devices will be made available across Vodafone markets including the UK during June.

The Smart III has a high resolution four-inch screen, a 1GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage expandable to 32GB with a microSD card, 3G connectivity, and a five megapixel camera. Prices will start at €88 (£75).

The Smart Mini will be priced from €58 (£49) and has a 3.5-inch screen, 1GHz processor, 3G connectivity and two megapixel camera.

Both handsets run on the Android operating system.

Vodafone director of terminals Patrick Chomet said: “We continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible with our Vodafone Smart range of devices, enabling more people than ever to join the mobile internet revolution at an unprecedented price.

“In combination with our innovative, industry-leading prepaid and Vodafone Red price plans, the Smart mini and Smart III will allow customers to make the most of their smartphone and get the best of the Vodafone experience without breaking the bank.”
