Customers can now top-up prepay mobiles via the platform, with payment amounts ranging from £10 to £50

O2 has included the ability to add prepay credit to a mobile phone when via its O2 Wallet platform.

Customers can top up any O2 prepay mobile with an amount of between £10 and £50. It’s free for all to use, regardless of network and as it’s done through O2 Wallet, users aren’t required to enter payment details each time.

To top up, users need to register for the O2 Wallet by texting WALLET to 61202. Once set up, they select the ‘Pay & Go Top Up’ icon in the O2 Wallet and pick the number to top up from in their phonebook.

The operator said the launch of the service on the platform is part of its mission to deliver value added digital experiences for customers.

O2 Wallet allows customers who sign up to make purchases and transfer money using an O2 account from their mobile.

The prepay top-up service follows the launch of O2 Train Travel into the O2 Wallet in March, which aims at offering a quick way to plan journeys, save money and buy tickets.

O2 Money managing director James Le Brocq said: “Our future lies in becoming a trusted provider of brilliant digital experiences. Last year we started that journey with the launch of O2 Wallet which gave us the platform to start to build value added services.”

“Our customers’ needs are changing so we need to ensure we’re offering more digital solutions to make their lives easier, for example how they top up a Pay & Go mobile. This new top-up service as part of the O2 Wallet app offers a quick and easy way to add credit to an account with minimal fuss, giving you more time to spend doing the things you love.”

  1. O2 is appalling! I have an iphone 5 and it keeps running out of data, I ended up paying 90 quid last month! There is no way you can get through an operator! No way. When you try to do things online they don’t work. I tried to get my phone unlocked for 18+, I’m on a contract. I had to travel miles to go to a shop, then I received a text saying it was now unblocked, cool, tried, no way. Then I requested a verification code 3 times, they sent it to me 3 times, guess? 3 times it did not work! They are s**t!
