Third handset to run the BB10 OS available for free from £21 a month at networks and retailers including Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U, EE and Vodafone
The BlackBerry Q5, the third handset to run the BB10 operating system, has gone on sale in the UK.
It is currently free from £21 a month from Carphone Warehouse, Phones 4U and Vodafone, and costs an additional £5 a month from EE.
The Q5 follows the Z10 and Q10 smartpyones to run BlackBerry’s new platform, which launched in January.
Similar in appearance to the Q10, it has a 3.1-inch touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard. It will also feature BlackBerry Time Shift, which lets users take a range of photos and choose the best one, and BlackBerry Story Maker to enable users to create a story and join together multimedia into a film.
It also includes BlackBerry Messenger, which since the launch of the new platform, lets users have video conversations and share screens.
BlackBerry UK and Ireland senior channel director accounts Johnathan Young said: “The BlackBerry Q5 is a powerful, affordable smartphone which delivers on our commitment to bring BlackBerry 10 to different segments of the market. We believe that the BlackBerry Q5’s combination of rich features and functionalities at an affordable price point will appeal to existing and new customers alike.”
