Huawei appoints Colin Giles to push global marketing efforts

Nokia veteran recruited to help Huawei achieve its goal of being the world’s leading consumer brand

Huawei has appointed Colin Giles as executive vice president of its Consumer Business Group. He will be responsible for the company’s global marketing, retail and open channel development.

Giles was at Nokia for 20 years between October 1992 and September 2012 and held several senior roles including senior vice president for Greater China, Korea and Japan, senior vice president of sales in the eastern hemisphere, president in China and executive vice president, global head of sales.

Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu said: “Colin has achieved phenomenal success in his previous roles in the industry and has a wealth of experience in mobile brand marketing, device sales, and open channel development. We are thrilled to welcome him to our team and believe he will be instrumental in further propelling the growth of Huawei’s global marketing efforts, and contribute to our goal to become a leading consumer brand in the world.”

Giles added: “I am delighted to join Huawei at such an exciting time in the development of its consumer brand. Over the last couple of years, the company has already made big strides in the global marketplace with the introduction of flagship products that quickly became the talk of the town, like the world’s slimmest smartphone Ascend P6 launched just weeks ago.”
