Former Vodafone UK enterprise director will join Virgin Media Business in September
Virgin Media Business has appointed former Vodafone UK enterprise director Peter Kelly (pictured) as its managing director, effective September 16.
Kelly spent five years at Vodafone overseeing fixed line telecoms, mobile and IT services to a variety of market sectors before leaving the company in March.
He was previously president of enterprise for the EMEA region at Nortel.
Kelly will report directly to Virgin Media CEO Tom Mockridge and will take a place on the group executive committee.
Interim managing director Tony Grace will continue in the role until Kelly joins in September, at which point Grace will return to his previous position as chief operating officer of the business division.
Kelly said: “I am delighted to join Virgin Media Business and be part of Virgin Media’s group executive committee. The company has already made huge strides forward in establishing itself as the main challenger to BT in business telecoms. I’m looking forward to taking the business on the next part of its journey, with growth and innovation at the forefront of my focus.”
Mockridge added: “Peter’s a very welcome addition to our executive team as Virgin Media Business has an important part to play in the growth of Virgin Media. Despite the economic challenges currently facing our public sector and private enterprise customers, the business-to-business market offers big long term opportunities for us. Peter is the right person to have on board to accelerate Virgin Media Business’s growth and challenge the incumbents in this market.”
