More than 200,000 of the telecoms provider’s handset and SIM customers will be able to download free mobile security app
TalkTalk has extended its relationship with mobile security provider F-Secure to develop an Android-based mobile security app.
MobileSafe is available to all TalkTalk UK customers and is free to download from the Google Play store.
F-Secure, which already provides a ‘Super Safe Boost’ security package to Talk Talk’s broadband offering, said that the app will deliver a “complete solution” to protect devices, content and privacy.
It is based on F-Secure’s existing mobile security platform which provides anti-virus features, safe browsing, parental controls, call/SMS filtering and anti-theft options.
TalkTalk Mobile director Dan Meader said: “As a trusted provider of internet services to our broadband customers, with our Super Safe Boost, provided by F-Secure, and TalkTalk’s unique HomeSafe filtering solution being used in more than a million British homes, the next logical step is for us to extend our leadership in online safety to our mobile customers.”
F-Secure UK & Ireland managing director Allen Scott (pictured) added: “Consumers are using their smartphones just as much, if not more, than their PCs and Macs now. As a result, they are looking to their mobile provider to ensure that their mobile experience is safe and secure. TalkTalk is well positioned to capitalise on this market need using MobileSafe.”
