EE to expand Merthyr Tydfil call centre with jobs boost

The 200 newly created customer service and sales jobs in Wales are part of a UK-wide campaign, which will also see 100 jobs offered in Darlington and North Tyneside

EE has expanded its Merthyr Tydfil customer services and sales team by 200 people, reinforcing its position as the largest single employer in the Welsh town.

A mixture of full and part-time jobs have been created in the call centre. In addition, 25 apprentices recruited from Merthyr Tydfil college will start in the next few weeks and 15 will start in November.

Jobs are also being created in the North East of England where approximately 100 additional opportunities will be available across the Darlington and North Tyneside centres.

EE said new recruits could be answering customers’ calls “within weeks”.

Chief of customer service Francoise Clemes said: “Merthyr Tydfil is already home to one of our award winning UK customer centres and today’s announcement is great news for both job seekers and our customers.

“As well as providing a much-needed jobs boost for an area which has been badly hit by the downturn, the increase in employees at our customer centres reinforces our commitment to providing the best service possible to all EE customers.”
