Gusto gets Apple seal of approval

Accessories manufacturer given green light to sell iPhone 5 and iPad mini charging device

Gusto Telecom Solutions is to sell Juice chargers compatible with the Apple iPhone 5 and iPad Mini before the end of the year.

Juice was signed off by the technology manufacturer as an ‘MFi’ (Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad) product earlier this month. MFi is Apple’s licensing and certification programme.

When Apple launched the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini last September, it replaced the 30-pin dock connector normally found on its devices with the eight-pin ‘Lightening’ connector.

The iPhone 5 charger will go on sale in October, with a charger for the iPad Mini available before Christmas, each costing £17.99.

They will be stocked by Gusto’s retail partners Dixons Store Group’s (DSGi) 298 Currys and PC World stores, John Lewis, Carphone Warehouse, O2, Sainsbury’s, Fonehouse, Staples and Jersey Telecom, spanning more than 2,000 stores in all.

There are six products in the Juice range, which are packaged in juice cartons and come with the tagline ‘Juice for your mobile’. The iPhone charger has a green cable, the BlackBerry charger has a blue cable and the universal charger has an Orange cable, and there is a compatible car charger for each.
The company said: “Being recognised as a brand worthy of this accolade so soon after launch is fantastic. We believe Juice has the potential to be the market leader in the mobile charging market over the next 18 months. This recognition from Apple will certainly help.”
