Industry speakers and topics revealed, ahead of the world’s largest telecom event to be held in Barcelona between February 24-27
The GSMA has today announced the first details of next years Mobile World Congress event, which will focus heavily on vertical markets such as health care.
The 2014 event, which will use the theme ‘Creating what’s next’, will will highlight the most significant innovations and advances in mobile, providing a blueprint for the future.
Guest speakers will include those from organisations using mobile technology and connectivity, such as health, marketing, media and travel sectors – dubbed mPowered industries.
Companies set to participate include the European Connected Health Alliance, branding specialists Mobile Media Upfront, the National Association of Broadcasters and travel specialists EyeforTravel.
Mobile World Congress will be split across two venues this year. This will include last years venue, the Fira Gran Via and previous venue Fira Montjuïc.
Around 72,000 people, and 1,700 companies in total, are expected to attend the four day event, according to the GSMA.
GSMA chief marketing officer Michael O’Hara commented: “Under the theme of ‘Creating What’s Next’, the 2014 edition of Mobile World Congress will highlight the most significant innovations and advances in mobile, providing a blueprint for the future.
“Attendees will have the opportunity to experience firsthand how mobile is revolutionising business across many industries and transforming everyday life for billions of people around the world. We’re looking forward to welcoming the mobile world to Barcelona in February.”
The event will also expand on last year’s integration of NFC services, with attendees who possess NFC enabled handsets able to access instant information and take part in demonstrations.
More than 1,700 companies are expected participate in the event, which is set to again include the GMSA ‘Connected City’ to provide a real world environment to demonstrate the potential of mobile products.
During the event there will be 10 keynote sessions from some of the key players in the global market. Each will discuss the major trends, changes and challenged expected in the mobile industry both today and in the future. Confirmed guest speakers so far include ,
