Four plans available for customers with one of five eligible devices, enabling them to exchange their handset for another 4G smartphone from month six of their contract
EE will launch ‘Swap’ on September 17, enabling customers with eligible devices to upgrade from any point from month six into their 18 or 24 month contract.
The service will require customers to return their existing device, start a new 24 month 4GEE plan and pay a one-off fee.
The eligible device that is in good working order, with no significant damage. Swap is available to 4GEE, Orange, and T-Mobile plans bought directly from EE or indirect partners, available exclusively in EE stores.
There are five handsets that customers must be in possession of to be eligible for a 4GEE Swap plan and any 4G smartphone in EE’s range.
Those with a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or HTC One can pay £36 a month and £249 for 1.5GB of data, a Galaxy S4 will give them 2G of data for £41 a month and £199 upfront, those that have a Galaxy S3 will pay £46 a month and £129 upfront for 10GB of data while the iPhone 5 will get them 20GB of data for £51 a month and £49 upfront.
All plans come with unlimited UK minutes and texts, as well as a range of benefits including EE Film, Clone Phone Lite, discounted fibre broadband and fast-track customer service. Customers choosing a plan costing £41 a month and above receive an inclusive extra, with a choice of Deezer Music, EE Games or EE Mobile TV.
The operator currently offers contract customers in the last 45 days of their plan the option to upgrade for free, as well as Early Upgrade, enabling customers to receive a discount of up to 33 per cent on their existing contract. Customers choosing this option can choose to either keep their device, or recycle it through EE’s recycle or reward scheme.
EE chief consumer marketing officer Pippa Dunn said: “With smartphone innovation moving at a relentless pace, we realise that some customers want to move to the latest handset at the earliest possible opportunity. That’s why we’ve introduced ‘Swap’ to sit alongside our existing upgrade offers – providing a new, simple and easily affordable option for pay monthly customers to move to the latest 4G smartphones.”
