Samsung unveils world’s first curved screen smartphone

The ‘Galaxy Round’ will launch in Samsung’s home market of South Korea first tomorrow (October 10)

Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy Round, the world’s first smartphone with a curved screen.

The handset, which will initially only go on sale in Samsung’s home market of South Korea, has a 5.7 inch screen with high definition resolution.

It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, 3GB of RAM (random access memory), and 32GB of built-in memory.

The device has a 13MP camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. It weights 154g and is powered by a 2,800mAh battery.

Samsung has said the curved display means the phone will be easier to hold.

It has not said weather the Galaxy Round will go on sale in the UK or any other markets outside of South Korea.

It will be available through South Korea’s biggest mobile carrier SK Telecom Co Ltd and cost 1.089 million won (£632).
