Laptop manufacturer Lenovo is in talks to acquire HTC, according to reports by Chinese and Korean newspapers.
According to the reports, the two companies have been in talks since August, despite HTC telling the Wall Street Journal recently that it is “not interested in selling”.
The news comes several days after HTC announced it was expecting its first ever quarterly loss in Q3.
Announcing unaudited financial results for the three months to September 30, the manufacturer made a net loss of NT$2.97 billion (£63 million).
This compares to a profit of NT$1.25 billion (£27 million) in Q2, which was down 83 per cent from the previous quarter (full story here).
HTC also sold its stake in headphone maker Beats Audio for $265 million (£164 million) at the end of September (full story here).
