O2 customers given access to exclusive Pinterest widget

The exclusive Android-only offer follows a strategic partnership deal between Telefonica and photo-sharing website Pinterest

O2 has revealed that its UK customers are to gain exclusive access to Pinterest’s Android widget.

The widget, which will allow users to quickly view and access the Pinterest photo sharing app, is now available for download from the Google Play store and will also be preloaded on Android devices in the coming weeks.

The exclusive offer is part of a global partnership signed between O2’s parent company Telefonica and Pinterest to boost awareness of the app through joint marketing.

Telefonica Digital UK director David Plumb said: “This landmark deal with Pinterest is a significant step in our mission to put digital at the heart of our UK business.

“To be the first partner for Pinterest is a great opportunity and marks the foundation of a deeper relationship. As the service explodes in popularity, we are now in a position to bring the best possible mobile Pinterest experience to our Android customers in the UK.”

Pintrest head of operations Don Faul added:“Telefonica is one of the world’s most advanced communications companies, and together we can provide a one-of-a-kind mobile experience to new and existing pinners around the globe.”
