Contract customers make up 61 per cent of the MVNO’s total base, with 181,000 subscribers of this type added in the past year
Virgin Media added 58,000 mobile contract customers in Q3, taking the total to 181,000 for the past 12 months.
The financial results were revealed by Liberty Global, which bought Virgin Media for $24 billion in June. It means the third quarter was the first full three month period in which Virgin has operated under its new owner.
The MVNO’s contract customers now make up 61 per cent (1.9 million) of its total customer base of three million subscribers, which remained stable quarter-on-quarter.
Overall, Virgin Media reported revenue of £1.023 billion, which was up two per cent from a year ago. EBITDA rose three per cent year-on-year to £427 million.
Virgin Media CEO Tom Mockridge said: “As part of Liberty Global, we are well positioned to begin to take advantage of these opportunities and meet the growing demand for digital from switched on families.”
