Manufacturer’s former VP for South Africa, Southern Africa and Turkey takes over from Rob Orr, who left in June to join Samsung
BlackBerry has appointed Alexandra Zagury as its new UK and Ireland managing director.
Mobile News exclusively revealed last month that Zagury was expected to take over the top role.
BlackBerry MD for EMEA Robert Bose had held the position on an interim basis since Rob Orr quit to join Samsung in June.
Zagury said: “The UK and Ireland combined is one of BlackBerry’s most successful and strategically important markets. My number one priority is to continue to serve all of our customers and focus on driving the ongoing adoption of the BlackBerry 10 platform, BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and the BBM mobile social network.”
She has been with BlackBerry for six years and was most recently MD and VP for South Africa and southern Africa for 18 months.
Prior to relocating to Johannesburg, Zagury held two UK-based positions – senior director EMEA business operations and commercial strategy at BlackBerry between 2011 and 2012, and head of strategy and operations, managing Vodafone’s global business unit in 2008.
