The distributor said it expects demand for the smartphone, which is available to pre-order immediately, to be high
Tech Data Mobile has been appointed as the exclusive distributor for Motorola’s new smartphone the Moto G.
The Moto G, unveiled today (November 13), is available to pre-order from the distributor with immediate effect through Tech Data’s InTouch online ordering system and regional sales offices.
Initial stocks will shipped immediately. Tech Data said it expects demand for the Moto G to be high and customers are being advised to place their orders as soon as possible.
The phone has a 4.5-inch screen, five megapixel camera and runs the latest version of the Android operating system.
Motorola claim the display – which features 329 pixels per inch – is the “sharpest in its class” and that it is the “hero” feature of the phone.
The manufacturer said the phone promises all-day battery life even with heavy app usage, and provides 33 per cent more talk time than other premium smartphones.
Phones 4U and O2 have confirmed they will both stock the Moto G from Friday (November 15) and November 27 respectively (see here).
Tech Data Mobile president Rod Millar said: “ The appointment of Tech Data Mobile by Motorola as a distributor for the Moto G in Europe is a strong endorsement of our pan-European distribution capabilities.
“With our state-of-the-art logistics systems, Tech Data Mobile can offer fast and efficient delivery services to mobile dealers and retailers throughout Europe. We will be working closely with Motorola to optimise availability of this revolutionary new smartphone for our customers throughout the region.”
Motorola general manager UK Andrew Morley said: “Everybody deserves to be on the mobile Internet, and price shouldn’t stand in the way of anyone having a truly good smartphone to get them there. Moto G is a smartphone that delivers a premium experience for a third of the price of current high-end phones. Quite simply, it’s an exceptional phone at an exceptional price.”
