The Ethnic MVNO will also match call credit sent by customers to friends and family in the Philippines
Ethnic MVNO Lebara is donating €100,000 (£84,000) in aid to victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
The money will contribute to the UN refugee agency UNHCR’s immediate efforts to provide essential supplies such as safe drinking water and food to those affected by the typhoon, which began on November 8.
Lebara will also match all call credit sent from its customers to loved ones in the Philippines, which can be obtained by texting ‘SHARE’ to 65088.
Customers will also have the opportunity to apply to be a trained volunteer in a sponsored visit to the affected areas in the coming months.
Lebara Group Chairman Yoganathan Ratheesan said: “It is crucially important that we do all we can, as quickly as we can, to help victims. We hope our donation will help to limit further damage as we work on longer term initiatives, with our customers, to help safely re-build the community and protect vulnerable children and their families.”
