More than 120 million Argos customers will be able to benefit from the service each year, giving them access to extended online ranges and exclusive online deals and offers
O2 has rolled out its free Wi-Fi service to all of its 735 stores across the UK and Ireland.
Customers, regardless of network, only need to sign up to the service once before using it at any Argos store, or at any of O2 Wi-Fi’s network of hotspots across 9,000 venues and locations. Partners include McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Toni&Guy, Costa, and the Fullers, All Bar One and O’Neills pub chains.
O2 said Argos serves more than 124 million customers in its stores every year who will now be able to access extended online ranges and exclusive online deals and offers, as well as check their emails.
The deal with Argos follows that signed with Subway, with O2 Wi-Fi initially rolled out to 1,000 of the sandwich franchise’s shops in the UK and Ireland, with a further 600 to follow before the end of the year.
Argos managing director John Walden said: “We have seen strong growth in mobile transactions with sales through mobile devices now accounting for 16 per cent of our total sales. We know there is a strong appetite from our customers to have the convenience of accessing their devices on the move, in a way that suits them.
“Free high speed O2 Wi-Fi in our stores is great for customers and it also enables our stores to provide even better customer service by sharing online content such as extended ranges, enhanced photography and even product videos with customers.”
