Tommi Laine-Ylijoki will manage Huawei’s supply chain for consumer devices, including smartphones, tablets and dongles

Huawei has appointed former Nokia and Sony employee Tommi Laine-Ylijoki in a newly created role which will see him manage the manufacturer’s distribution of mobile products from a global perspective.

Laine-Ylijoki’s previous roles in logistics include vice president of materials management for Nokia (2004-2010).

He also worked for Sony Ericsson’s (now Sony) mobile division as head of operations.

Laine-Ylijoki will oversee the entire operations and supply chain management of Huawei’s consumer devices (including smartphones, tablets and dongles), including overseeing orders and deliveries.

Huawei said it had created the position due to its rapid recent growth. In the first half of 2013, the company saw profits rise ten per cent.
