Cat launch new waterproof handset

Rugged device manufacturer’s new B100 handset also features noise-cancelling technology

Cat has launched a new waterproof handset at the 2014 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.

The B100, made in partnership with Cat licensee Bullitt Mobile, also features a noise cancelling microphone and a high quality loudspeaker, as well as large buttons designed to be used with gloves.

Only availability in Germany has been revealed so far, with the B100 available from German retailer Conrad for €149 (£123).

The reveal was made at a CES pre-show, with the main conference beginning tomorrow (January 7).

The B100, described by Bullitt Mobile Co-CEO Dave Floyd as a “tough and practical mobile phone”, can withstand drops of up to 1.8 meters and can be submerged in up to one meter of water for 30 minutes. The handset can also withstand temperatures from -25ºC to 55ºC. It also has a 2.2-inch QVGA display, a 3-megapixel camera and a battery life of 10 hours talk time.

Accessories for the B100 will be available in April and include a screen protector, belt clip and drop in charger.
