Tech Data Mobile appoints duo to drive customer relationships

Gareth Lewis joins as sales general manager for network operators, while Andy Smith rejoins the company as general manager for key accounts

Tech Data Mobile has made two appointments in a move it said will help it expand and develop its relationship with key customers.

Gareth Lewis (pictured right) has joined as general sales manager for network operators. He managed accounts for HP and Acer between August 2010 and June 2012. Prior to that, he spent almost nine years at Motorola, first as an account director and then director of strategic accounts – retail distribution EMEA.

Smith (pictured left) rejoins the company after two years, where he had been IT channel director for Computer 2000 between January 2011 and December 2011. Most recently, he was sales director of Cisco repair, IT lifecycle services and network equipment specialist DanAbi between January 2012 and August 2013.

Tech Data Mobile has yet to specify if Lewis and Smith will be replacing anyone at the company.

Their appointments follow that of Jeni Patrick, who is leaving her role as marketing manager at Exertis Micro-P to become Tech Data Mobile marketing director at the beginning of next month.

Tech Data Mobile UK and Ireland managing director Stephen Nolan said: “These appointments are part of the wider investment we are making to take Tech Data Mobile to the next phase of its development in the UK.

“Gareth, Andy and Jeni bring with them a wealth of skill and experience. They will play pivotal roles in helping us to expand and develop our relationships with network operators and with major accounts in the retail, e-commerce and grocery channels.”
