Andrew Peat to exit 20:20 once Brightstar takeover is completed

Marketing and purchasing director to depart distributor next month once acquisition is finalised

Brightstar 20:20 marketing and purchasing director Andrew Peat is to leave next month – after almost nine years.

His exact leaving date is expected to be set once Brightstar’s acquisition of 20:20 Mobile is fully completed, which is rumoured to be the end of this month.

Brightstar 20:20 refused to comment on the story as Mobile News went to press, but sources close to the situation insist it was Peat who made the decision to leave – and it was “entirely amicable”.

One source commented: “People will automatically assume his planned departure is down to a falling out with the new owners but that’s not the case. Having been there since 2005, he simply felt it was time for a change. He’s well known and liked at 20:20 and will be missed by many.”

A replacement for his role is understood to have not yet been appointed, with some suggesting the role will revised, with multiple staff managing the purchasing and marketing business.

Peat joins former finance director Andy White, who quit the company after nearly 17 years in December, and former UK MD James Browning (replaced by Jim Michel), who, like Peat, will officially leave the firm once the takeover is completed.

Browning has already taken a role at biking distributor Fisher Outdoor Leisure, said to begin in March, whilst White is said to be involved in consultancy.

Peat is not understood to have a role currently lined up.
