Launch follows US scheme that went live last year
Telefonica has rolled out the European phase of its Global M2M Channel Partner Programme,
The connectivity provider is looking to partner with device manufacturers, solution providers and distributors as it seeks to tap into the market set to be worth €11.6bn (£9.5bn) by 2016.
Its US scheme signed up 80 partners in seven months and Telefonica is looking to repeat that success in Europe before looking at other territories.
“We’ll continue moving forward by developing the Programme in other Telefónica regions and adding more Telefónica’s products to our portfolio, using the same proven partnership model”, said Rafael García Meiro, global partner sales unit director, Telefónica Digital.
He added: “90 additional companies are already in the process of being part of our Channel Partner Programme and the objective for 2014 is to enrol a total of 250 partners.”
M2M will form a key part of Telefonica’s presence at the Mobile World Congress beginning Monday 24th February in Barcelona.
