Two Firefox OS devices also announced by manufacturer

Handset-maker ZTE has released its new Android-based smartphone at Mobile World Congress.

The Grand Memo II runs Android’s 4.4 KitKat OS, has a 6″ screen couple with an ultra-slim 7.2mm thick frame,13MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras, and is capable of HD video playback.

It comes equipped with a 3200 mAH battery that the firm claims will allow for 16 hours continuous HD video viewing when fully-charged.

Its MiFavor 2.3 UI is said to memorise user habits and utilises split screens, innovations that the company says will allow for more simplistic use.

It will be available in China from April before a simultaneous launch in the other territories including the UK.

The firm also used MWC to announce two new handsets running Firefox OS. The entry-level Open C and Open II run the latest version of the software.

Previous ZTE Firefox phones were only available via eBay in the UK and it is likely the new phones will continue to be sold through these channels.

The company says it expects to ship one million devices running Mozilla’s software by the end of 2014.
