Customers can now use the Orange network in both countries to avail to 4G speeds, with a number of other destinations to be announced by the Summer
EE has launched 4G roaming in France and Spain, running off the Orange network in both countries. The service is available immediately to consumer and small business customers, with corporate customers to follow soon.
There is no added cost for 4G roaming, with consumer price plans starting from £3 per day for £100MB of data.
The operator said it will extend its 4G coverage across other destinations including the USA, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands by the Summer. It said agreements with networks in these countries would be announced in due course.
In December, EE signed an inbound roaming agreement with AT&T for the US operator’s customers visiting the UK to use EE’s network. AT&T set the cost of roaming for its customers, as opposed to EE.
EE CEO Olaf Swantee said: “Now we’re allowing our customers to stay connected on 4G when they’re abroad. They will be the first to benefit in France and Spain today, with the most popular travel destinations to follow in the coming months. Our customers will now benefit from the same superfast and reliable mobile experience at home and overseas.”
