Broadband is becoming an increasingly important factor for house buyers according to property website
Property website Rightmove has added a section to its website showing the typical broadband speeds for each ISP for every home for sale on its website.
The firm had been trialling the service, which has been receiving in excess of 400,00 page views a month, and the feature has now become a permanent fixture.
“We already offer a number of tools to help consumers make informed decisions about a property, including local schools and transport links, and we’re pleased to be the first to add data on broadband, something that has become ingrained in people’s lives and an important factor when choosing a home,” said Rightmove head of consumer platforms Bernard Phillips.
Rightmove’s own survey of 3,000 of its users also showed that respondents ranked broadband choice as more important than transport links and choice of schools.
The importance of broadband speeds was also backed up by data from Hull-based ISP KC. Its sample of 2,000 UK adults found that 71 per cent took broadband speeds into account when choosing a home.
