Contract win adds to the exclusive deals it has won so far this year to distribute products for i-box and Griffin Technology

Frequency Telecom has been named the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for mobile accessory brand MiPow.

MiPow, which was founded in Hong Kong in 2010, is an authorised manufacturing licensee of Apple, and manufactures Bluetooth headphones, headsets and speakers plus mains and portable chargers for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

The firm has a presence on five continents, including 15 countries in Europe, but the deal with Frequency will mark its first entry to the UK market.

It’s the third exclusive distribution deal Frequency Telecom has won this year. In January it was selected by i-box to distribute its speaker systems and chargers in the UK and Benelux, and by Griffin Technology in February to supply its headphones throughout the UK and Europe.

Huge growth

Frequency Telecom head of audio Mike Gregory (pictured) said: “The portable power market is experiencing huge growth and MiPow’s range of Made for iDevice and micro USB products are perfectly placed to make a big impact.”

“We are also extremely impressed with its approach to Bluetooth speaker design and performance while its innovative PLAYBULB offers a whole new category of products for our customers.”

MiPow UK sales director Steve Hockney added: “This is a crucial launch period for MiPow and it is essential that we choose the right distribution partner; one that both understands the brand and has the customer contacts necessary to make the impact we require.”

Products in the MiPow portfolio include the PLAYBULB, which was unveiled at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January.

The PLAYBULB is a bluetooth (4.0) connected lightbulb which provides both light and speakerphone functionality.

PLAYBULB has 80 LED lights and provides light comparable to a 60-watt bulb.

Mobile users can control the bulb by downloading an app to their device (iOS, Android) and play digital content such as music through the bulb’s speakers.
