Three launches new mobile insurance policies

Covers loss and damage scenarios, with a free app providing 2GB of cloud storage to back up content, with users able to track and find their lost mobile online

Three has teamed up with technology protection specialist Asurion to launch a range of new insurance policies.

Three Rescue covers loss, theft, accidental damage, malicious damage by a third party, accidental water and liquid damage, and pet damage.

It also covers consumers anywhere in the world, next day UK replacement and same model replacement if the claim is accepted before 6pm Sunday-Friday. There is also a £20 charge for delivery abroad.

The policies range from £4-£10 a month depending on the device owned, with a policy costing £2 covering dongles.

The Three Rescue app can also be downloaded from the Apple App Store for iPhones operating iOS 7 and above and Google Play for Android smartphones operating update 4.0 and above.

This provides 2GB of cloud storage to back up content such as contacts, photos and videos, and enables customers to track and find their lost mobile online and set an alarm to sound when it is lost.

Three head of internet services Margie Waltasaari said: “Mobile phone insurance has a poor reputation due to slow processes, widespread cover exemptions and low service levels. We believe Three Rescue will address that through a combination of great service and the extra steps we take to help our customers to get their mobile lives back.”
