Mobile phone app that directly routes calls wins at ITSPA Awards
VoIP provider Voipfone scooped the Best VOIP Innovation Award for its GeoDivert smartphone application at the Internet Telephony Services Providers’ Association (ITSPA) Awards on March 5.
The GeoDivert app allows for desktop calls to be automatically routed to a mobile device when the user is away from the desk.
The desktop phone communicates via WiFi to the employee’s mobile phone, which detects when they have left their desk. Calls will then automatically divert to the mobile phone. When the user returns, calls are automatically re-routed to the desktop.
The app requires a one- time set-up and is free to download but users must have a Voipfone account to use the service.
The firm, which has a turnover of £4m, says there is no other product like it on the market and that all its marketing for the device is through personal recommendations.
“We don’t do any advertising, it’s all through word-of- mouth,” Voipfone founder and technical director Lee Rose (pictured) told Mobile News, as he explained how the company’s client base had grown. “We used to be predominantly SMEs but we’ve been getting a lot of corporates over the past 12-18 months.”
Other winners at the award’s included Localphone for Best Consumer VoIP,Node4, which was recognised as Best Business ITSP (Corporate), and Genband, whose QUANTiX Qflex software won Best VoIP Infrastructure.
