Transatel looks to beef-up UK MVNO partnerships

EE MVNA partner aiming to bolster numbers in the EU to around 15 to 20 this year, including six to be launched in the next few months

Transatel says it is looking to increase MVNO agreements in the UK, as SIM connections near one million.

The French MVNA – launched in the UK back in 2009 – has so far connected 25 MVNOs onto the EE network, 19 of which are still active.

Major partners include Phones 4u’s (LIFE), Go Mobile (Go Mobile Network), The Co-operative Mobile, China Telecom and Unicom.

The firm, which also has operatons in France, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg, had a turnover of around £25 million in its last financal year and claims to have set up more than 140 MVNOs to date.

Its founder and chief executive officer Jacques Bonifay (pictured) told Mobile News, Transatel is looking to bolster MVNO partnerships in the EU by around 15 to 20 this year. This includes six that will be launched in the next few months.

Bonifay added that the company will talk to “any” business interested in launching its own white label mobile airtime offering – targeting those from all telecom and IT markets.

“We are here to allow any player to become an MVNO in the market,” said Bonifay.

“We’re going to be approaching people in the mobile and fixed space – in fact, anyone who is in B2B or B2C can become an MVNO.”
