Operator offes roaming package ahead of EU legislation that will ban charge from December 2015
Vodafone has announced that its Eurotraveller package, which offers reduced calling rates while roaming in Europe, is now available for prepay customers.
For an additional £2 per day users can use their UK minutes, texts and 100MB of data without incurring additional fees in Vodafone’s Europe zone. This includes calls made in 41 European countries including Spain, France, Denmark and Ireland. Any add-ons that a customer has active on their UK account will also be able to used in the selected countries.
Customers will not be able to use in excess of Vodafone’s monthly data spending cap of £41.29, without opting out of the limit.
Three already offers a Feel at Home service where calls, texts and data on both prepay and contract have no roaming fees attached to them in 16 countries, including Australia, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, Switzerland and Israel.
EE offers a Euro Talk bolt-on allowing you to use your calls and texts allowances to around 40 countries. From July 1st it will cost 19.8p per MB of data downloaded.
On O2, customers can use their phone in European destinations for £1.99 per day through its O2 Travel service. There is a 50p connection charge to make a call and then it is free for up to 60 minutes, sending texts cost 7p and there is no restrictions placed on data, subject to the user’s allowances.
The European Parliament has recently voted to ban roaming charges within EU countries. The plans which are subject to approval by national governments will take effect from December 2015.
