Pay monthly customers will be charged £2 whenever they use internet in Europe while pre-paid get 50mb for same price
O2 has upgraded it’s travel tariff to allow customers to use more data whilst travelling abroad after research showed one of the biggest problems British holidaymakers experience on holidays is getting lost.
Pay monthly customers will be able to access as much data as they need whilst travelling in Europe for £1.99 per day whilst pre-paid customers get access to 50Mb of data for the same cost.
A study of 2000 people conducted by O2 found that the biggest problems holiday makers experience whilst travelling included getting lost, finding somewhere to eat and udnerstanding the language. The study found that only 14% take their phones with them on day trips and 54% of people asked said the fear of large bills limited their phone use.
Nina Bibby, marketing and consumer director at O2 said: “People use their mobiles as a source of information on a daily basis; we believe it should be no different when they are on holiday.
“By giving our customers access to all the data they need for just £1.99 a day when they are in Europe, we are offering them a worry free way to get the most out of their smartphones, whether it’s looking for a great place to eat, or navigating the streets of an unfamiliar city.”
O2 Travel also launched an iOS and Android app featuring content from Tripadvisor allowing customers access to city guides and maps.
