Rugged device vendor’s brand and products to be integrated into KAZAM, which will see the European mobile manufacturer now offering durable devices
KAZAM has merged with ToughShield to integrate the rugged mobile phone brand into its business.
The move expands KAZAM’s product portfolio into ruggedised handsets, joining the feature phone and high-end smartphones already available across its Trooper, Thunder and Life ranges.
It will likely see one website that will be KAZAM branded, with the full integration likely to be complete in the coming weeks. It is still unclear where ToughShield handsets will be sold.
The merger has also seen the creation of the ‘KAZAM for business’ division, focusing on the enterprise sector of the industry. ToughShield targets industries including the emergency services, field sales, security guarding, facilities management, construction and transport.
ToughShield, a UK-based company that launched earlier this year, has two handsets currently available – the R500+ and T700. The R200 and R750 devices will be available in due course.
KAZAM CEO Michael Coombes said: “This is a significant step for KAZAM, enabling us to broaden our product portfolio, delivering even more choice to consumers and businesses. ToughShield has solid experience and credibility in rugged products, specifically within the enterprise market. This integration will allow us to take advantage of that.”
ToughShied CEO Merrick Edwards added: “The European mobile device market has become increasingly competitive and this integration will enable us to stand out.”
