15 countries now have high-speed mobile internet roaming with ‘all major travel destinations’ expected to be active by the end of the year
EE has rolled out 4G roaming in an additional 13 countries following the launch of its first services in France and Spain earlier this year.
Customers travelling to Canada, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, UAE, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Switzerland are now able to access 4G services. South Korea will go live on Friday bringing the total to 16 countries.
Consumer and small business customers will be able to access high-speed mobile internet from today, with corporate accounts to follow shortly.
“EE already has the biggest and fastest 4G network in the UK – now we’re also allowing our customers to stay connected on 4G when they’re abroad,” said EE chief executive officer Olaf Swantee. “Our customers will benefit in 15 destinations today, with further popular travel destinations to follow in the coming months.”
EE offers data roaming packages to customers where they receive 50MB of data within the EU for £3 or 500MB for £25. Small business customers can use 2GB of data for £75 plus VAT.
EE 4GEE Extra customers receive unlimited roaming minutes and texts in selected EU countries including France, Germany and Spain. They also receive double speed 4G internet speeds of up to 60Mbps in 20 UK cities.
Three is currently the only network to offer inclusive calls, texts and data in a number of countries. It’s ‘Feel at Home’ offer covers 16 countries including the USA, France, Ireland, Norway and Italy.
