Online retailer’s first smartphone, which will be on sale at the end of the month, now available to pre-order from mobile operator
O2 has signed a deal with Amazon to exclusively sell its Fire Phone device in the UK. It is the online retailer’s first smartphone release.
The Fire Phone (pictured), which was announced in June, is now available to pre-order from O2’s website and in-store. It is free on the £33 per month O2 Refresh tariff, which offers unlimited minutes, texts and 2GB of 4G data. The device will begin shipping on September 30.
In addition, Fire Phone purchases until December 31 include a full year of membership to Amazon Prime.
This will enable users to stream and download thousands of films and TV episodes with Prime Instant Video, over 500,000 books to borrow with Kindle Owners’ Lending Library, and unlimited one-day shipping on millions of items.
With this offer, existing Prime members will receive an additional 12 months of membership.
O2 consumer and marketing director Nina Bibby said: “It has always been our ambition to offer the very latest devices and to unlock the possibilities offered by innovative technology, and this is further proof of that commitment.”
