O2 is only UK network to stock Pebble smartwatches which launch in UK this month
O2 will become the exclusive UK network provider for the Pebble and Pebble Steel smart watch devices, which will launch in the UK later this month.
The operator is the only network who will provide the Kickstarter-funded watches and will exclusively provide a new cherry-red version of the device.
Pebble Technology corp was founded in 2012 and began a Kickstarter campaign in April that year, seeking to raise $100,000 in five weeks. When the campaign closed, Pebble had raised $10,266,844 overall, and the first Pebble smart watch went on sale in the US in July 2013, selling out within five days.
The smart watch, and its follow up device, Pebble Steel, will come to the UK later this month through O2, Currys/PC World and Amazon. The original Pebble comes with a 1.26 inch screen, a 130Ah battery which Pebble claims can last up to a week and connectivity with both Android and IOS devices through bluetooth. It will cost £99 from O2’s online and retail stores.
The Pebble Steel, which was announced at CES in January, comes with a thinner body, metal buttons and a Gorilla Glass screen, and will cost £179.99.
