Firm now distributing devices from the manufacturer after sources claimed HTC had cut off all supply following a dispute surrounding unsold stock
Tech Data Mobile is again offering HTC handsets and tablets to the UK market following an alleged fallout lasting more than six months.
According to sources, HTC, which has worked with Tech Data since 2011 (then as Brightstar Europe), cut off all supply following a dispute surrounding unsold stock said to have dated back to Q1 this year.
The issues coincided with an HTC channel review, resulting in rival Brightstar 20:20 being appointed – and Tech Data effectively cut off – although no official termination were made.
Neither Tech Data or HTC would comment as Mobile News went to press, but a senior source close to the matter, said the relationship is now active.
“HTC and Tech Data have had a long-standing relationship and it was clear neither party wanted to walk away. HTC is a strong brand and recognises the importance of working with a global distributor like Tech Data. The previous issues have now been resolved.”
