Chess broadens IT portfolio with acquisition of Borehamwood-based firm

Chess has hit the acquisition trail again with the purchase of the £2.2 million turnover ICT provider, Parachute ICT for an undisclosed sum.

The acquired business and its 17 staff (pictured) will now be based out of Chess’ Borehamwood office which also houses Chess Partner Services (formerly Avenir Telecom) and another acquired company, billing provider, ebillz. Parachute IT had previously been based out of a site elsewhere in area.

Chess, based in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, has now acquired more than 80 companies in its 21-year history. The latest purchase is its first since it purchased Avenir Telecom’s mobile airtime distribution business in July.

Chess chief executive officer David Pollock says it will help the company provide an even wider range of services.

It makes great sense to strengthen our ever-continuing expansion into being a ‘one-stop shop’ by bringing the best out of Parachute IT’s knowledge and experience in the IT industry.”
