The Samsung Gear S will go on sale in the UK on Friday (November 7) and will be available from Samsung Experience stores, and O2.

The Gear S is a smart watch that comes with integrated 3G connectivity, meaning the device doesn’t need to be connected to a phone to make calls, send texts or use online services.

The watch runs on Tizen software and has a two inch super-AMOLED display, a dual-core 1Ghz processor and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity. It has Samsung’s S Health software built in to it and can be used for navigation, text messaging and calls.

It comes with an RRP of £329 and Samsung said it expects the device to rollout to other retailers soon, although it was unable to reveal who else would be stocking it.

Samsung marketing director (IT and mobile) Ines Van Gennip said: “This is an exciting and dynamic time for the wearable technology category and we are delighted to be leading the innovation drive.”

“Combining a sleek, stylish design and Super AMOLED screen with 3G connectivity, we feel the Samsung Gear S is the ultimate smart wearable device.”

O2 are offering a range of tariffs for the device. For example, customers can pay £9.99 upfront for the Gear S and get 100 minutes, 100 texts and 100MB of data for £23 per month.
