Irish telecoms provider’s chief financial officer, who had been leading the company on an interim basis since September, takes up the role on a permanent basis
Eircom has appointed former T-Mobile UK managing director Richard Moat as its new CEO. He replaces Herb Hribar, who quit the Irish telecoms provider after two years at the end of September.
Moat joined Eircom as chief financial officer in August 2012, arriving at the company the same time as Hribar did.
Following Hribar’s departure almost two months ago, Moat had been acting as interim CEO while Eircom searched for someone to fill the role permanently.
He was formerly EE deputy chief executive and chief financial officer and had previously been managing director of T-Mobile UK. He is also a non-executive director of International Personal Finance.
The company is yet to make an announcement on the CFO role left vacant by moat’s promotion to CEO.
Eircom chairman Padraig McManus said: “As CFO, he has been at the heart of the transformation and rejuvenation of the company over the past two years and he has demonstrated the knowledge, experience and enthusiasm required to lead the company through the next phase of its journey.”
