Sharer plans from £6 per month enable customers to share data allowances across devices or between family members

O2 has today launched new sharer plans that allow new and existing customers to spread data allowances across devices or between family members.

The operator’s Sharer Plan and Family Sharer Plan see customers use one bundle, with a data allowance of up to 8GB, either across multiple mobile devices or smart tech, or across multiple devices owned by different members of the family.

Sharer Plan is designed for individual customers looking to share one data bundle across multiple devices. Customers on any of the operator’s Refresh tariffs with at least 1GB of monthly data can share their data on additional devices from £6 per month as an add-on to their existing agreement with the network.

Once a lead device is in place, customers can add up to nine devices and SIM cards to share the data across.

Family Sharer Plan is focused on those looking to spread their data across multiple family members. They take out one plan with a data allowance of between 1GB and 8GB and add up to nine family members.

For £15 for each family member, the plan comes with unlimited minutes and texts in addition to the shared data allowance. The same plan is also available for families wanting to share data on a tablet from £6 per month.

Customers will require additional SIM cards to share data across multiple devices, with the cost added to each account or SIM card included within the shared plan.

Also, families taking out the plan with at least two voice connections will also receive a £25 voucher to use at restaurants Frankie and Benny’s or Chiquito.

Customers using either plan can track their data usage by using the My O2 App, which is available as a free download for iPhone, Android and Windows Phone devices from their respective app stores. They will receive a text message when they have used 80 per cent and 100 per cent of their allowance and those using the latter can then buy additional data bolt ons from £3.

O2 UK marketing and consumer director Nina Bibby (pictured) said: “People across the UK are increasingly tech-savvy and now own an average of 1.5 devices each. In response, we’ve created a simple and easy way for customers to manage their data usage across all their devices.

“Whether you’re sharing your data allowance across devices or family members, our new Sharer plans can help you get more from your smart tech and also save money.”
