Santok releases another Karbonn Mobile device

Device follows the UK launch of the Sparkle V Android One from the same manufacturer las month

Santok has announced the latest release from Indian manufacturer Karbonn Mobile following the brand’s UK launch last month.

The dual SIM Karbonn Mobile A5S is now available through Amazon with a retail price of £69.99.

The four-inch 3G handset features a 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 4G of internal memory, 5MP camera and a 1400mAh battery.

UK-based global accessories and handset manufacturer, Santok, signed agreement with India’s third largest smartphone manufacturer in February of this year to market the devices in the EMEA region. Karbonn produces more than 30 million devices every year.

The Android-based range will be available initially through Amazon with further retail partners to be announced at a later date. It follows a launch in Spain earlier this Autumn.

The flagship handset in the range is the Sparkle V Android One which has been developed in partnership with Google. It will run the latest version of the Android operating system Lollipop. The 4.5 inch device has a 1.3GHz quad core processor, 4GB internal memory expandable by 32GB and 1GB of RAM.

It also features a 5MP rear camera and 2MP front facing. It will be sold through the Amazon’s website on ‘Black Friday’ (tomorrow) for £99, a 30 per cent discount on normal prices.

Other handsets in the range include the Karbonn Titanium S6 and Karbonn A19.

“For far too long the UK mobile device market has been dominated by a small group of huge brands and this has meant that the price for smartphones has been pushed extortionately high,” said Santok Group CEO Jay Pau.

“There are currently low-end cheap alternatives, which offer what people pay for them. With Karbonn we are introducing a high quality brand, with leading technological innovation and cutting edge design, but without the 5* price tag.”
