Three customers holidaying in Spain will now be able to use calls, texts and data and no extra cost. Programme now covers 18 programmes
Three is adding two new countries to its Feel at Home programme which allows customers to use their mobile phone in 18 countries with no additional cost.
Popular holiday destination Spain and New Zealand will be added to the programme on April 1st, eight months ahead of the EU’s deadline to abolish roaming fees in member states in December.
The two new destinations join France, Switzerland, Israel, Finland, Norway, USA, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Macau, Australia, Italy, Austria, Hong Kong, Sweden, Denmark and Republic of Ireland.
More than 13 million people are set to travel to Spain from the UK this year, according to European travel statistics.
“Feel at Home is unique to Three and offers freedom from unfair roaming charges,” said Three chief executive Dave Dyson. “It is already hugely popular with more than a million of our customers enjoying its benefits since launch.
“Adding France last year and Spain in 2015 means the two most popular destinations with British holiday makers will be covered. Currently, 49% of our customers’ overseas trips are to Feel At Home destinations. With the addition of Spain and New Zealand, I expect that to rise to about 65%.”
Three has been able to rollout the programme by negotiating more favourable rates for wholesale charges it pays incumbent operators in the countries where Feel at Home operates.
To promote the launch of the service in Spain, the operator has tied up with Expedia to offer customers 12 per cent off a pre-paid hotel booking made via the Expedia app until April 6.
