Virgin Media COO Dana Strong joins Liberty Global in SVP role

She joins Virgin parent company as chief transformation officer, working with CEO Mike Fries to identify new strategic and operational opportunities 

Virgin Media chief operating officer Dana Strong has joined global cable firm Liberty Global as senior vice president, chief transformation officer.

She will assume her new position on January 31, reporting to CEO Mike Fries, and will work with him to identify strategic and operational opportunities to shape the success of the business over the coming year.

Strong (pictured) joined Virgin Media in 1999 and held numerous roles before becoming COO. Prior to this, she was CEO at UPC Ireland and COO of AUSTAR Entertainment in Australia.

Fries said: “Having delivered exceptional value creation over the last five years, it is the perfect time to identify and execute the strategic and operational opportunities that will shape Liberty Global’s success over the next five years.

“Dana brings with her a unique blend of strategic and operational knowledge, which will be a great asset in this new role.”

Liberty Global acquired Virgin Media for $24 billion (£15.4 billion) in June 2007.
