Millar reunited with Brightstar founder and current Sprint CEO, Marcelo Claure
Industry veteran Rod Millar has joined US operator Sprint Corporation.
Millar quit as senior VP at Tech Data Mobile after more than seven years in September. He will head up Sprint’s leasing, reverse logistics, buy-back and insurance operations.
The move also sees Millar reunited with Brightstar founder and former CEO Marcelo Claure who joined as CEO of Sprint Corporation in August.
Sprint is currently the third largest U.S. wireless network operator, behind AT&T and Verizon, with 54.8 million customers (as of Q3, 2014).
Millar and his family have now relocated from Tampa, Florida to Kansas, the home territory of Sprint Corporation.
He joined Brightstar Europe, a 50/50 joint venture between Tech Data Corp and Brightstar Corp in 2007 holding the role as president. He become senior vice president for Tech Data in September 2012 after the IT giant acquired Brightstar 50 per cent share for £106 million.
