Trustonic software will come embedded in Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge smartphones
Samsung has launched Trustonic security software for its Knox security platform that will come embedded in the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge when they go on sale next month.
The Trustonic for Knox software simplifies user authentication by enabling simpler passwords, protects against attempts at click-jacking, and increases end user confidence that transaction approvals are genuine.
The software works by providing a secure environment built in to a smartphone called a Trusted Execution Environment that allows service providers to access hardware-backed security features, such as PINs on SIM-cards.
“We understand the importance of evolving Samsung KNOX to meet the ever-changing needs of enterprise and professional mobile security,” said Samsung VP of enterprise business team (IT and mobile) Rick Segal.
“We will continue to provide solutions to our customers and partners that allow them to feel confident and comfortable in using their mobile devices in the workplace. Embedding the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge with Trustonic for KNOX will enable ecosystem players to build new services and applications that will take mobile security to a new level.”
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge go on sale in the UK on April 10 and is available for pre-order from tomorrow (March 20) on Carphone Warehouse, EE, O2, Vodafone and Three. The Trustonic software will also be rolled out to other handsets in Samsung’s Galaxy range through software updates.
