Partnership will see Samsung take over majority of London department store’s window display for next two weeks
Samsung has entered a partnership with Harrods which will see the manufacturer showcase its technology in the department store’s shop front until April 24.
The Korean firm said it is the first time a technology brand has had a “takeover” at the luxury department store, based in Knightsbridge, London.
From Friday, Samsung will take over most of the retailers window displays with an installation and display showcasing Samsung’s technology, including the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge which will launch that day.
Shoppers at Harrods will be able to buy limited edition Platinum Gold versions of both devices and have the opportunity to have their phones engraved, with the device coming in a special Harrods box.
Samsung UK marketing director (IT and mobile) Ines van Gennip said: “Samsung wants to excite people with both our products and how we communicate with them.
“We believe this partnership with Harrods aims to showcase how technology has evolved and become a key part of our lives. We realise that experience is the new form of luxury and we hope people enjoy Experience Innovation at Harrods and look forward to seeing customers in store.”
The display was installed during the Easter bank holiday weekend and Samsung will also have an exhibition on the second floor of the department store, which will showcase the development of technology over the last 25 years, including Samsung’s products.
Harrods director of home and technology Annalise Fard said: “We are delighted to be working with Samsung for the April ‘Experience Innovation’ takeover.
“Our partnership with Samsung, will give our customers the opportunity to experience, first-hand the world of Samsung and some of the brand’s market-leading technologies.”
