Operator will sell discounted devices that have been returned within first 14 days from purchase
Vodafone has launched an online store that will sell phones returned to the network within the first 14 days of purchase.
The operator offers a 14 day cooling off period in which customers buying new phones can return the devices, and Vodafone Outlet will refurbish these phones and resell them at discounted prices.
Even if the devices are returned in pristine condition, Vodafone has to sell them as used, meaning they come at a reduced price.
Vodafone e-Commerce specialist Ben Carr explained: “They go through a strict series of checks and tests at our warehouse, and those that are in good enough condition are repackaged and head on to Vodafone Outlet.”
Announcing the outlet on its blog, the operator said all peripherals, such as headphones, charging cables and manuals are all included.
Vodafone will also use its online Outlet store to sell stock of discontinued and end-of-line smartphones, applying the same discounts.
“When we decide to stop selling a device, there will always be a few left in the warehouse. All of these end-of-line devices are now going to be reserved for Vodafone Outlet too, so we’re going to be able to bring these to the customer at a cheaper price as well,” said Carr.
“Because of the nature of how this works, the device range will change quite often. Some of the offers will be very limited, to the point where sometimes we’ll only have 40 or 50 devices. Just because something was there yesterday, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be there today.”
The website has already gone live and has several phones available including the Samsung Galaxy S5, iPhone 6 and HTC One M8.
