Operator is the first in the UK to sell the Canadian manufacturer’s latest smartphone
Vodafone has become the first UK mobile operator to sell the BlackBerry Leap smartphone.
It is free on a 24-month Vodafone contract for £18.33 per month that provides 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data. It also costs £199.99 SIM-free from the BlackBerry UK online shop.
The UK is the first market to sell the device, which will also be available in Germany, France, US, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and India over the coming weeks.
The BlackBerry Leap was unveiled by its CEO John Chen at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month, adding to the Passport from last September and Classic from December.
It is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and has a five inch HD touchscreen, eight megapixel rear and two megapixel front cameras, HD video recording, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory (expandable by 128GB with a microSD card) and a 2,800mAh battery that BlackBerry said provides 25 hours of mixed use.
