Lyca branding will be displayed on P1 powerboats for another two years
Ethnic MVNO, Lycamobile, will launch a powerboat racing team in the Powerboat P1 series of events this summer.
It follows the company, which has 12 million subscribers in 18 markets, signing an enhanced agreement with the marine sports brand following a “successful first year”. The team will operate in the US and UK with the races featured on Sky Sports, Fox, ESPN and Asia’s, Ten Sports.
The partnership will be be backed by ad campaigns in The Times and on Fox TV in the UK and follows a marketing partnership with West Ham United, signed earlier this year.
The Lycamobile Team will compete for the first time during the fifth event of the series in Jacksonsville, Florida over the course of 5-7 June.
“Powerboat P1 is a thrilling sport that’s appealing to a rapidly growing audience worldwide,” said Lycamobile chairman Subaskaran Allirajah.
“Every race is a fantastic day out for all the family, which is exactly the audience we want to reach as we continue to grow our subscriber base beyond 12m customers this year.
“Over the coming months we’re looking forward to cheering on Stuart and Sara as Lycamobile Racing competes for the P1 SuperStock title.”
